How to Take Couple Photos Without a Photographer
Not having a photographer doesn't mean settling for blurry, off-center selfies — a few low-cost tools and habits get most of the way to a professional-looking result.
A tripod and a timer beats a selfie stick
Even a small, inexpensive phone tripod lets you step back far enough to fit both people naturally in frame, rather than the distorted close-up look of an arm's-length selfie.
Use burst mode
Set a 10-second timer with burst capture so you get several frames per take — poses and expressions shift naturally between shots, and one of them usually lands better than a single capture.
Ask a stranger, but be specific
"Could you take a few photos of us?" gets inconsistent results. "Could you get a couple of shots of us from about there, maybe one closer up?" gives clearer direction and better odds.
Scout the light first
Position yourselves so the light source (window, sunset, streetlight) is in front of or beside you, not behind — backlighting without a flash usually silhouettes both faces.

Yes — modern phone cameras are more than capable; lighting, framing and pose choices matter far more than the camera itself for a casual couple shoot.
